titleUI/UX Principles #3: The Paradox of Choice
Too many options paralyze decisions. Alvin Toffler described in 1970 the paradox: The more choices, the harder the decision. Users become overwhelmed and abandon.
Practical Application: Filter product catalogs, limit pricing plans to 3-4, highlight featured products. Offer side-by-side comparisons for complex decisions. Structure navigation hierarchically instead of showing everything simultaneously.
Result: Higher conversion rates, fewer cart abandonments, more satisfied users. Fewer options paradoxically lead to more sales.
